In the evening you can warm by the fire and enjoy traditional food and great wine. Vallée des GavesThis valley is where you'll find Bareges, Luz Ardiden and Cauteret resorts. But in addition to skiing, you can enjoy the stunning winter wilderness on the marked walking and snowshoeing trails available.
Vallée des CampanThe Vallée de Campan will take you to the high mountain ski station of La Mongie. However, the lower valley also offers lots of winter fun. The Payolle ski station offers over 50 km of marked cross country trails to challenge for t The spa town of Bagneres-de-Bigorre at the base of the valley provides the perfect end to a great day in the snow with it's magnificent traditional spa. Val d'AzunThe largest Nordic Area in the Hautes-Pyrénées, with claims of also being the most sunny, is located between the Soulor and Couraduque passes. Here you will find cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, luge and skidoser outings. New this winter: the Soulor pass giant Tyrolean traverse. HautacamHautacam is a great resort for the entire family skiing but also has 15km of cross country skiing along ridges offering spectacular views.

Features of the accommodationThe large living area with open fire place and massive oak beems creates a warm and relaxed setting. An ideal venue for friends or family to celebrate a special occasion. The property has separate cozy accommodation for 2, but can sleep up to 12 guests and features:
Cuisine of the Hautes PyrénéesThe cuisine is based on a wide variety of traditional foods. It's hearty fare, perfect for mountain activity. Garbure is the locals' preferred winter warmer. Each household has their own variation of this soup. There is also the Hautes Pyrénées version of Cassoulet. The well known Fromages des Pyrénées are delicious mature cheeses which can come from the cow's, ewe's and goat's that graze the high mountains all summer. And for the sweet tooth there is the Gâteau à la broche. This cake looks like a mountain dusted with snow. It is baked over a wood fire on a cone shaped spit which is turned by hand. It a time consuming process with absolutely melt in your mouth results. You can try all the local specialties while you're here and we can also arrange for a visit direct to the producers. |
