Since 1999, 'Le Géant' has waited at the top of the Mythical Col to pay tribute to those who dare to attempt its summit on two wheels.
Each winter Le Geant relinquishes the summit to the skiiers. But, once the snow clears, he makes his way back up. For the next 5 months, hundreds will attempt the most notorious of the Tour de France climbs.

Montée du Géant du Tourmalet
' Le Géant’ statue was commissioned to commemorate the first TdF summit of the Col du Tourmalet in 1910. The event generally attracts about 1,000 riders who cheerfully, and at a relaxed pace, accompany the statue on its ascent enjoying live music and sampling local delicacies such as Porc Noir, Haricot Tarbes, local cheeses and regional wine, on the way.
