The 2008 Etape route is stage 10 Pau-Hautacam of this year's Tour de France. Our accommodation is on the route itself (at the foot of the Loucrup climb), perfectly located for your pre-Etape recce and training.
The following is a suggested itinerary, which covers the whole 2008 Etape route in 3 rides. Day 1Meet at Pau airport. You have the option of assembling your bike and riding in, following the fairly flat (except the bump at Labatale!) Pau-Loucrup section of the Etape route. The rest of the group and the lugagge will be transferred to Cami de Bidale. After lunch, local warm-up ride on plains and in foothills. You can relax by the pool and enjoy an evening welcome drink, followed by dinner on the terrace. Day 2A sportif breakfast to get ready for the challenging Hautacam climb. It is only 20 km to the foot of the Hautacam, and riders also have the option of tackling nearby Soulor, Aubisque, or Luz Ardiden. From here you can return directly via Lourdes or ride the scenic Castelloubon valley (on the TdF '06 route). Day 3The toughest day, time to take on the mighty Tourmalet! Turn left from the house onto the cat 4 Loucrup climb and take in the magnificent views on the way to the spa town of Bagnéres-de-Bigorre. From here, the road keeps climbing all the way to the Col du Tourmalet, some 29 km. Then a long winding descent following the Etape route all the way to the base of the Hautacam. Day 4Transfer to Pau airport.
